Yuri Suzuki's sound sculptures

Yuri Suzuki is virtually qualified: he has a certificate of advanced studies in Augmented Reality. His day job is as a sound artist, designer and electronic musician. With his output, he’s attempting to explore “the realms of sound through exquisitely designed pieces”. There is obviously an appetite for this sort of cross-over creativity, as his installations and creations can be spied in exhibitions around the world.

Born in Tokyo in 1980, he now lives in Stockholm, where he’s a designer and visiting artist with the collective Teenage Engineering. He’s now part of the London Design Museum’s annual Designers in Residence show, where he’s got location-specific with a radio circuit board that’s arranged along the lines of Harry Beck’s London Tube map.This chimes well with his mission to demystify consumer electronics. Other Suzuki imaginings include a set of pens that play back the sounds they’ve recorded, and a small-scale record player which runs along a train-like track made out of vinyl records.
