Tomorrow sees the opening of an exhibition dedicated to the illustrator and designer Javier Mariscal at Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan (12 - 19 April). Hosted by Madrid's Instituto Cervantes, the exhibition Schizzi e oggetti will focus on some of Mariscal's new design objects as well as his original drawings for the quintessential Spanish cookbook, 1080 Recipes. The exhibition also marks the launch of the Italian language version of the cookbook.

Born in Valencia, Spain, Mariscal is an expert on Spanish cuisine, and a natural choice as illustrator for this bible of authentic Spanish cookery. The combination of 500 of Mariscal's beautiful drawings created especially for the cookbook, with the mouthwatering creations of Inés Ortega and her mother Simone, the authority on traditional Spanish cookery, lead to truly delicious results.

Mariscal's dynamic drawings leap at the viewer, and their vibrant colours and playfulness transform 1080 Recipes into a distinctive and lively cookbook that interacts with the reader.
