Tomi Ungerer is best known for his distinctive and witty children's books, as well as being a successful political commentator, proflific writer, erotic artist and deft observer of the minutiae of every day life. He was the artist behind the 1964 Dr Strangelove poster and designer of the Fontaine de Janus sculpture in Strasbourg.

He is currently the subject of two exhibitions: Here Today, Gone Tomorrow, at the Tomi Ungerer Museum in Strasbourg (until 8 August), and Eklips, at the Kunsthalle Würth, Swäbish Hall (until 19 September).
