Wit, ideas and ambiguity: the world of Alan Fletcher

Describing himself as a ‘visual jackdaw’, Alan Fletcher distilled a brilliantly witty and inimitable exploration of such subjects as perception, colour, pattern, proportion, paradox, illusion, language, alphabets, words, letters, ideas, creativity, culture, style, aesthetics and value. 

From 1993 Fletcher worked as consultant Art Director to Phaidon Press. Books on his work include: The Art of Looking Sideways, Beware Wet Paint and Picturing and Poeting, a collection of creative material from his notebooks and travel diaries.
