How was 2014 for Ferran Adrià?

The elBulli 2005-2011 maestro on Ibiza, art and the circus

Though he closed the doors on elBulli way back in 2011 Ferran Adrià has not been resting on his laurels. This year the Spanish super chef continued to partner up with Phaidon, hosting a number of FT How to Spend it Dinners in some of the world’s chicest cities including London, New York, Geneva and Hong Kong all in support of the ground breaking elBulli 2005-2011 which synthesised the creative legacy of that legendary restaurant into seven perfect volumes.

Inbetween he found time to work on and further refine his elBulli Foundation and Bullipedia concepts and perhaps most excitingly, lay the plans for an exciting and wild new venture in Ibiza next year.

Ferran and brother Albert are working on a restaurant and night club on the famous party island, off the coast of Spain. Though the pair are remaining a little tight-lipped for now, Ferran has said that the dazzling new concept will feature performances from Cirque de Soleil and will be open for six months each year. Cirque du Soleil founder Guy Laliberté who owns property in Ibiza is head of negotiations for the project which Ferran's brother Albert has called "international and multidisciplinary”.

Albert says the venture “won’t be just about dining” but will aim to elevate food to a theatrical experience. “We’re going to surprise the world with a park of cultural and artistic attractions for adults.” So with that thought to chew on how was 2014 for Ferran Adria?
