Commissioned by BNP Paribas to mark 150 years of the bank's presence in India, Women Changing India is a ground-breaking exhibition of images by six Magnum photographers whose brief was to highlight the cultural and geographical diversity of women's lives in 21st century India.

For the project the six photographers, among them Raghu Rai, the Indian photojournalist who has spent four decades charting the changing face of the country, selected six subjects at various stages of their lives and in various roles, from taxi drivers and students to movie directors and business leaders, who reflected the changing roles, aspirations, opportunities and challenges that contemporary women face.

The exhibition, which premiered in Mumbai, will be on view in four more cities in India until December, before touring to Paris, London, Brussels and Milan in 2011.
