A Modernist reinterpretation in miniature

How do you approach a design for a doll's house for the contemporary child? That was the question posed to TDO Architecture - a collaboration between graduates of the Royal College of Art and The Bartlett School of Architecture in London - for a special commission by Wallpaper* Magazine.

Asked to consider Le Corbusier's Villa Savoye as a starting point, and seeking to 're-approached the design by understanding the parameters of what makes both a functional Doll's House and an imagined full scale proposition', the practice came up with A Doll's House for Clementine: a fully functional doll's house in a contemporary design. Conceived vertically, the plan 'allows for interaction with all areas' as well as flooding the structure with light. When not in use the doll's house functions as a lamp.
