‘Private light in public spaces’ is the slogan behind the first edition of Light Art Biennial Austria, an exhibition dedicated to light and its presence within contemporary art taking place in cities across the country.

The Biennial, the first such event of its kind to take place in Austria, has attracted numerous artists from around the world who have been invited to present their work within in and around the streets, plazas and various public buildings of cities such as Linz and Vienna. Only the exhibiting artists know the exact locations of their installations in advance, lending an unforeseeable and intriguing element to the event.

The festival opened in September and is currently in its final stages. Major closing exhibitions are currently taking place at Viennese gallery Area 53 (until 17 December).
