Today (22 October) would be Robert Capa's 97th birthday. Over half a century after his untimely death during the First Indochina War in 1954 - Capa stepped on a landmine after leaving the safety of his jeep to photograph a French advance - his images are still as powerful, poignant and popular as ever.

Centro Atlantico de Arte Moderno's comprehensive exhibition Robert Capa: Retrospective, - one of more than half a dozen shows around the world currently featuring his work - includes a selection of the photographer's seminal images from World War II as well as many portraits, including those of his friends and fellow artists Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso.
