We take a look at the work of the man who first photographed Kate Moss, naked, on her 18th birthday
There's still time to catch the Fahey/Klein Gallery's major Herb Ritts exhibition before it closes this weekend. Herb Ritts: Twenty-Five Years presents a series of intimate black-and-white portraits, nudes and editorial pictures, all of which are original prints developed before artist’s early death in 2002 at the age of 50. Ritts’ strong, clean images often challenged traditional perception of race, gender or sexuality and his unparalleled talent for capturing character as well as beauty made him one of the most eminent photographers of the Nineties. During his career, he captured images of numerous high-profile figures: from the original supermodels Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington, to Hollywood heavyweights Jack Nicholson and Johny Depp, to spiritual and political leaders such as Nelson Mandela and the Dalai Lama.
